'Gutted' - Bristol Rovers fans bid sad - but fond - farewell to Tom Nichols after Cheltenham Town move
The striker had plenty of well wishers
by David ByromBristol Rovers fans have bid a fond farewell to Tom Nichols after his move to Cheltenham Town.
The striker has joined the League Two club on loan for the rest of the season and, barring a major turnaround in form, it is likely the last we have seen of the 26-year-old in a Gas shirt.
Despite his lack of goals, plenty of Rovers fans always felt a fondness to Nichols for the amount of effort and hard work he put in on a football pitch, and many Gasheads backed him to excel in the division below.
Blue Side of Town: Good luck Tom. Always tried your hardest for the Gas and got some appalling abuse for it. Hope it goes well at Cheltenham.
James: You know this guy is ending up League Two top goal scorer.
LB: Go smash it Tom, gutted it didn't work out with us.
Elliot Owens: Shame re Tom Nichols, could never fault his effort, but it just never worked out for him in the quarters.
Simon Cox: Nice to hear a departure with no slight made. I wouldn't be sad to see him do well somewhere else above, below or sideways to us. Always struck me as a good lad who worked hard and cared about his performances.
Matt: Good luck to Tom. There is a player in there somewhere. Just didn’t work out for him here.
4.48PM: Nice guy and worked his socks off but it never worked out. Hope it goes really well for him at Cheltenham.
Martyn Rowe: Hope that it works out OK for you Tom and you find your goal touch again
