Mulan Is All About Battle Scenes in Super Bowl Preview Spot
by Sam StoneThis March, Disney will revisit the classic 1998 animated film Mulan with a live-action adaptation.
Ahead of this weekend, Disney released a sneak peek at its upcoming Super Bowl television spot for the film, which is set to air sometime this Sunday. Running for thirty seconds, the teaser is packed with epic battles and gravity-defying action as the eponymous hero fights for the fate of China.
From an operatic confrontation with the sinister witch Xian Lang to sequences featuring soldiers running up the Great Wall of China, the upcoming adaptation has no shortage of action as Mulan fights for her family's honor while disguised as a male soldier in the Chinese army.
Principal photography began in August 2018 in China and New Zealand. It wrapped November 2018, before entering a particularly lengthy post-production process. Judging by the new sneak peek, the upcoming film has some impressive fight sequences.
Directed by Niki Caro, Disney's Mulan stars Yifei Liu as Mulan, Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, Jason Scott Lee as Böri Khan, and Yoson An as Cheng Honghui, with Gong Li as Xianniang and Jet Li as the Emperor. The film opens March 27.
