Mindless vandals will not stop targeting a Stockport charity shop.

Over the past month Headway UK in Cheadle has been ransacked on multiple occasions, leaving staff and volunteers to pick up the pieces.

In the latest in a long line of incidents, trespassers tipped out large industrial bins and left the shop's back yard strewn with piles of rubbish.

The shop was first broken into before Christmas when intruders climbed over the wall to ransack the store’s back yard.

Since then, the charity shop has been vandalised more than half a dozen times, even though it has been made clear that no items of value are left at the premises.

It has left staff and volunteers, who have to spend time clearing up the mess, infuriated.

Staff and volunteers at the Headway shop have been left frustrated by anti social behaviour

The shop’s manager, Jane Crocker, said: “We are all so frustrated. It is difficult to believe that someone could be so cruel as to target a charity shop again and again.

“The time that it takes us to clean up all the mess is time which should be spent serving customers or putting out stock to help raise funds to support those affected by the devastating consequences of brain injury.

“Not only that, but the profits made in the shop – which should go towards helping the charity deliver vital services – have had to go towards replacing locks time and time again instead.”

Now, Jane is asking for local people to show their support by donating much-needed stock and helping in any way they can.

She said: “Our customers have been so supportive and we are determined not to let this get in our way. We guarantee a very warm welcome to anyone who would like to support us.”

Anyone wishing to support Headway is asked to contact Jane on 0161 4289459 or call into the shop, which is on High Street.
