The 20-year-old has been signed for United from Southend, largely as cover for the Under-23s squad, which is current missing goalkeepers Matej Kovar and Paul Woolston through injury.
MEN Sport reported on Thursday that United had sealed the move for Bishop after a medical at the club's Carrington training ground earlier in the week. He's signed a two-and-a-half year contract at Old Trafford and spoke to the club's official website about fulfilling a dream by signing for United.
“The opportunity to join Manchester United is a dream come true," said Bishop. “This club has a great record of developing goalkeepers and I cannot wait to work with the coaches here to improve every single day.
“I want to take the chance to thank everyone at Southend United for everything they have done for me throughout my time there; without their support, this move would not have been possible.”
Bishop became United's second signing of the January transfer window after the more high-profile deal for Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon.
The club are now exploring a possible transfer for former player and current Bournemouth forward Josh King.
