Barcelona Transfer News: Catalan club sign 20-year-old Braga prodigy striker

Barcelona Transfer News: The Catalan club decides to sign 20-year-old prodigy striker, but the player will join the club in July.

After making a transfer blunder today morning by snubbing Cedric Bakambu at the last minute, Barcelona has officially completed a transfer with a 20-year-old Portuguese talent Francisco Trincao.

The Catalan club confirmed the news by revealing the details of the transfer on their official website. The transfer fee is 31 million euros and the player will sign a contract with the Club for the next five seasons, until the end of the 2024/25 campaign with a buy-out clause of €500 million.

Despite completing the agreement, he will join the Catalan club in the coming summer. The new Barcelona superstar is touted to be one of the best forwards in coming years.

His stats in the youth competitions are promising as he was part of Portugal’s U19 team and won the European Championships in 2018 and ended the tournament as top scorer with five goals and top assist provider with three.

However, with the performances this season with Braga at the senior, he doesn’t have the numbers to sound him like a prolific forward, but he still has a long way to go. Anyway, Trincao has scored 3 goals and collected 6 assists in the 22 appearances this season.

Barcelona claims that Trincao can play anywhere up front although he usually features on the wing, on either flank despite being left-footed. Which brings the additional scope of variations in the team.

If Barcelona had let him in the squad in this season only, then he could have replaced injured Luis Suarez, which means that Barcelona will be without any replacement to the Urugyuan International.

Moreover, with this signing, it also signals that Barcelona is aiming to replace Lionel Messi, who is already in the last years of his career in Barcelona, as Trincao is best suited at the right-wing.
