Monroe woman killed in crash on U.S. Highway 165

OUACHITA PARISH, La. (KNOE) - Police say a Monroe woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Hwy 165, near LA Hwy 2.

According to Louisiana State Police, it happened Thursday night around just before 10:30 p.m.

Police say a vehicle was headed south on U.S. Hwy 165 and, for reasons still under investigation, the driver disregarded the traffic control signal at the intersection and struck a 2014 Cadillac CTS.

The Cadillac was driven by Darrica Davis of Monroe. She was attempting to turn left onto LA Hwy 2 when she was hit. Police say that after impact, the Cadillac began overturning and became engulfed in flames.

Davis was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was taken to a local hospital with injuries.

Police say toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
