Father speaks of heartbreak at Mass of the Angels for McGinley children

by

The father of Carla, Darragh and Conor McGinley has spoken about everything that brought his young children joy at their funeral mass in Dublin.

In his eulogy at the Church of The Holy Family in Rathcoole this morning, Andrew McGinley said the family will be “forever heartbroken” after their deaths.

You can read the eulogy in full here.

The children, aged three, seven and nine-years-old, were killed in their Dublin home last Friday.

The Mass of the Angels in Rathcoole will be followed by a burial at Newcastle Cemetery this afternoon.

Mr McGinley used the eulogy to thank Lego, Marvel and Frozen for the joy they brought to his children's lives.

He said no God should have allowed their deaths to happen.

“We often misuse words,” he said. “When Ireland would lose a match, I used to say I was heartbroken. I now know what that really means.”

“We, as a family, are heartbroken. It will only be with your help, support and friendship that we will be able to patch our hearts together in some way but we will still be forever heartbroken.

“Conor, Darragh and Carla. I love you.”
