Tim Southee continues to suffer in Super Overs despite his vast experience

Tim Southee was standing in as skipper for the injured Kane Williamson in the fourth T20I but failed to change New Zealand's fortunes as they lost in the Super Over for the 2nd time in a row against India on Friday.

The venue changed from Hamilton to Wellington but New Zealand's fortune in the Super Over remained the same.

New Zealand's most experienced bowler in the team - Tim Southee - once again let his side down as he failed to prevent India from overhauling the target in the Super Over for the second match in succession on Friday.

Southee was economical in regular time, taking 1 wicket for 28 runs from his 4 overs, but couldn't defend 14 runs in the Super Over against KL Rahul and Virat Kohli and saw his team lose their 7th successive T20I on home soil.

Southee has bowled 6 times in the Super Over and ended up on the winning side just once - the first time he was handed the responsibility by the Black Caps, who now have played 8 Super Overs and lost 7 of them with 6 defeats in a row.

Just two days ago in the third match, New Zealand had set an even bigger target of 18 to win for India but Southee couldn't stop Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul from knocking off the runs.

Just like in the last match, Southee bowled length deliveries in the slot and paid the price for it as Rahul smashed 10 of the 16 runs India scored in the Super Over on Friday, including a six and a four while Kohli made the rest, hitting a boundary to end the match.

Rohit had smashed two sixes off two successive balls in the last game against Southee to win it for India. Both those deliveries were also in the slot for the batsman to hit.

"It's very tough especially in the positions we put ourselves into. We have them a chance and they took them with both hands. We have a young bowling attack and, it is tough, when you haven't won and you play against a quality opposition in India, give them a sniff and make it tough for yourselves," Southee, who was standing in as skipper in Wellington for the injured Kane Williamson,https://twitter.com/ITGDsports/status/1223221529464324096?s=20 https://twitter.com/ITGDsports/status/1223221529464324096?s=said after the match.
