The tune Lorch, Lorch, Lorch, Lorch pumping through sound systems has been heard frequently over the course of the last couple of months as the DJ Maphorisa Amapiano track made waves in South Africa.

Roll back some 21 years, and you would find that a famous kwaito song featuring Benni McCarthy, and it created an even bigger buzz back then and is still played on radio stations today.

Called Shibobo, Benni featured on the song with legendary kwaito group TKZee back in 1998, and it has since become one of the biggest songs in South African music history.

In fact, Shibobo was the fastest- and biggest-selling CD single by any South African recording artist at the time. The song was released in the build-up to the 1998 FIFA World Cup, and Benni featured on a verse that is still very much remembered today!
