Signe lets you use numeric gestures as shortcuts to apps and websites

Having a jailbroken handset means that you can install third-party add-ons that permit you to take advantage of features that otherwise wouldn’t be available to you on a stock device. Shortcuts that make accessing your most-used features are a wonderful example of this.

Those wishing that their iPhone or iPad would give them fast and easy access to their favorite apps or websites from anywhere in iOS might want to take a minute out of their busy day to check out a newly released and free jailbreak tweak called Signe by iOS developers Tr1fecta and Kritanta.

In a nutshell, Signe lets users invoke a numeric gesture recognizer from anywhere in iOS with a gesture of your choosing. Upon invoking, you can scribble a number on your display to trigger any action you’ve assigned to it, be it launching an assigned app or opening an assigned website.

After you install Signe, you will find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure the tweak to your liking:

Here, you can:

• Toggle Signe on or off on demand

• Choose how you’ll invoke the numeric gesture recognizer:

  • Volume Down + Power
  • Volume Up + Volume Down
  • Tap Home Bar
• Show your drawing as you draw it on your screen
• Adjust the stroke size of your drawing
• Choose a stroke color

• Configure up to nine different actions when drawing the numbers 1 through 9:

  • Disabled
  • Open App
  • Open Website URL
  • Run a command

The developers include a Respring button in the primary preference pane that lets you save any changes to make to the tweak’s options.

Signe is in its alpha stages at the time of this writing, but it seems to be working rather well for an alpha tweak. Signe is available as a free download from the OpenPack repository in your preferred package manager, and it supports jailbroken iOS 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 devices.
