Lexus LC500h launched at Rs 1.96 crore

by

The Coupe is powered by a 354hp petrol-electric powertrain; deliveries to commence in March.

Lexus has launched its two-door grand tourer, the LC500h, in India at Rs 1.96crore (ex-showroom). This niche model joins Lexus’ India line-up, which currently includes the ES and LS sedans and the NX, RX and LX SUVs.

Powering the LC500h is a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine that puts out 300hp and 348Nm of torque. It works in conjunction with an 180hp electric motor. The total system output of 354hp is sent to the rear wheels via a clever gearbox that combines a 4-speed automatic with a CVT. When used in manual mode, this allows the driver to choose from a total of 10 ‘gears’. The Lexus LC500h does 0-100kph in a claimed 4.7 secs. In international markets the LC is also offered with a 477hp, 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine option.

The LC500h gets features like a 10.3-inch infotainment system that’s controlled by a touchpad next to the gear lever, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. As is standard for cars of this ilk, customisation and personalisation options are extensive and can drive the price up significantly.

Deliveries for the grand tourer are slated to begin in March. Lexus is bringing the LC500h down to India via the CBU route under the new 2,500-car import rule. In our country, the Lexus LC500h competes with the Jaguar F-Type V8 (Rs 2.21-2.80 crore), Bentley Continental and Mercedes-AMG GT (Rs 2.27-2.32 crore).
