Apple Maps Completely Revamped In Latest Update

by

Apple has announced that it is rolling out a major upgrade to its iOS navigation app, Apple Maps. The new update will add a revamped map design as well as several other new features.

The first thing users will notice are the aforementioned overhauled map design which now provide greater geographical details. Locations such as shopping malls, parks and landmarks will be much more visible now, which is handy for navigation. Apple promises that Maps will be faster and more accurate than before.

The new Collections feature allows users to create customised lists of saved locations that can also be shared with others. Favorites grants quick and easy navigation via a shortcut button, and Look Around provides a 360-degree panoramic view of locations.

The Apple Maps update has been released in the US for now, while a European roll-out is planned to arrive in months to come. However, the company has not disclosed when it will be available in Asian regions.

While most of these updates sound fine and dandy, we can’t help but to address the elephant in the room. Undeniably, most of the features listed are already present and available globally on its competitor, Google Maps. In most cases, other companies would have taken some inspiration from Apple, but rarely the other way around.
