Four people rushed to hospital following horror crash involving tree on A77

Four people have been taken to hospital following a crash on the A77 near Kilmarnock.

Police have confirmed the two cars were involved in the smash yesterday afternoon with one eye-witness saying that a car had ploughed into a tree.

The collision took place between South Drumboy Farm at Fenwick and Eaglesham Moor Road shortly after 2.30pm.

An eye-witness said the road was closed for a number of hours after careering through a fence.

One eye-witness said: "The car traveled off the A77 through a fence through another fence, hit tree and road sign then landing in field At South Drumboy Farm fenwick. Road was closed for a number of hours.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police were called to the A77 at Eaglesham at 2.37pm to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles.

"Four people were injured and taken to hospital."
