Done deal: Nottingham Forest goalkeeper makes deadline day move

Nottingham Forest transfer news: Luke Steele becomes the latest departure from the City Ground

by

Nottingham Forest have confirmed goalkeeper Luke Steele has returned to Millwall on loan.

The 34-year-old will spend the rest of the season with the Reds’ Championship rivals, having returned from a previous spell at the club earlier this month.

Steele’s return to the capital comes following an injury to Frank Fielding, which it is said could keep him out of action for the rest of the campaign.

The shot-stopper made just two appearances for the Lions during the first half of the campaign, both of them coming in August in the Carabao Cup.

Forest have already allowed out-of-favour shot-stopper Costel Pantilimon to leave, joining Cypriot club AC Omonia, while Arijanet Muric looks likely to end his loan spell from Manchester City early.

Steele, too, would almost certainly have found himself down the pecking order at the City Ground, with Brice Samba having established himself as first-choice and Jordan Smith recently being on the bench as back-up.

So far during the transfer window, Forest have seen Rafa Mir, Claudio Yacob, Pantilimon, Jack Robinson and Chema head through the exit door.

Adama Diakhaby, Nuno da Costa and Gaetan Bong have all signed for the Reds, with Tyler Walker having been recalled from his loan spell at Lincoln City.
