Disturbed intruders flee Newtyle motorhome break-in

Police are hunting two men disturbed while breaking into a motorhome before fleeing the scene.

Police Scotland is appealing for information after the incident in Newtyle at around 7pm on Thursday night.

The pair were disturbed within the Ford Transit in Castle Street, near the junction with Belmont Street, before the intruders escaped in a grey Renault Scenic.

The men were described as in their 40s, wearing dark clothing, about 5ft 9ins, of average build and “may have been of eastern European appearance.”

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A Ford Transit motorhome was broken into, and two men were disturbed within it, apparently trying to steal it.

“They then left the area in a grey Renault Scenic, with the registration SU06FON.

He said officers were pursuing this line of enquiry.

“We would like to hear from anyone who has seen this car in the Newtyle, Meigle, Alyth area, or seen two men acting suspiciously near vehicles.

“If you have any information that could assist our investigation, please call 101 or speak with any police officer.

“Also, information can be given anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Our reference is incident 2964 of 30th January.”
