Tim Southee Memes: The home captain was at the receiving captain of another super over which didn’t go his away.

During the fourth T20I of the ongoing India’s tour of New Zealand in Wellington, cricket witnessed its first instance of a super over happening in consecutive matches in a bilateral series.

It was yet another case of the hosts failing to seal a chase which they should have. Needing seven runs to win off the last over with seven wickets in hand, it was New Zealand’s game to lose which they ended up losing eventually.

Batting first in the super over, Tim Seifert and Colin Munro scored 14 runs in one over which included the visitors dropping two difficult chances.

It was India wicket-keeper batsman Lokesh Rahul and captain Virat Kohli who stood tall on their potential to score 16 runs with a delivery remaining. Needing two runs to win off the last two balls, Kohli scored a confident boundary off his counterpart to win the match.

Southee, who conceded 16 runs in the last super over against India vice-captain Tim Southee, never looked worthy of defending 15 runs against Rahul and Kohli today. The 31-year old player was on the receiving end of big-hitting for the second straight time.

Having defended seven runs in the last over, India pacer Shardul Thakur was declared the Man of the Match for registering bowling figures of 4-0-33-2. It is worth mentioning that Thakur (20) played a valiant hand in a crucial 43-run partnership for the seventh wicket alongside Manish Pandey (50*).
