With manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said to still be keen to add a striker to his squad before the window closes tonight, United have reportedly identified Salomon Rondon as a short-term option.

The former West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle United forward is currently on the books of Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang, but could join the Red Devils on loan before the window shuts, according to The Times.

United announced their first signing of the window on Thursday, when Bruno Fernandes joined the club from Sporting Lisbon.

However, Solskjaer wants more firepower up front after Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, who both joined Inter Milan ahead of this season, were not replaced.

In addition, Marcus Rashford's latest injury has left the Norwegian short of options in attack, which has led to the Premier League side scouting the market for a forward.

While it has been claimed that AFC Bournemouth rejected an initial bid from United for Joshua King, Rondon could be free to move after the start of the Chinese Super League season was postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus epidemic.

Venezuela international Rondon scored 28 goals in 120 appearances for West Brom, and also netted 12 times during a loan spell at Newcastle. He joined Yifang in July 2019, and has since netted five times in 12 games for the club.
