Kevin Kilbane and Brianne Delcourt on why they were scared to announce relationship
The Dancing On Ice duo opened up about their blossoming relationship while they sat down and chatted to Lorraine
by Irishmirror.ieDancing on Ice’s Kevin Kilbane and Brianne Delcourt appeared on Lorraine today and spoke about how they found love with one another while on the show.
The Irish soccer star, 42 and his stunning dance partner, 38, started off as 'best bud's' after being put together for the show, but it seems things quickly blossomed for the pair, and now, they are crazy about one another.
Speaking on Lorraine this morning, the pair were asked if it was an instant attraction, when they first locked eyes on one another.
Kevin revealed that he felt it 'straight away' and knew that he had to try and pursue something with the blonde beauty.
"When we first met four months ago, everything happened very quickly, it absolutely did. I certainly knew straight away that was it, yeah."
The former footballer added: "Everything’s been great, everything’s gone really well."
Speaking highly about her other-half, Brianne also opened up about her experience on finding love while starring on Dancing On Ice, and why the pair decided to keep their romance private.
Kevin is a private person. We both have kids, and it's a huge change and commitment to bring someone into your life. At first we didn't want to say anything, but we didn't want to lie at the same time".
"The cast and crew knew obviously, but we didn't want to keep it a secret and come across badly".
The stunner lovingly admitted that she really 'adores' Kevin, and said that she wasn't looking for love but "it happened".
"I’m used to being a tough coach, but it’s a bit hard with Kevin because obviously there’s feelings involved, I adore him, so it’s hard. Even if I do try to be hard, he just laughs at me."
When asked if their romance makes them better on the ice, Brianne said: "There’s a natural connection, it’s not put on, it’s real and we enjoy each other."
And Kevin confirmed that despite Brianne hailing from Canada, the relationship won’t be ‘long distance'.
Earlier this month, the Dancing On Ice's duo confirmed that they were a couple, just four months after being partnered together on the show.
Speaking to OK! Magazine about their new relationship following the announcement, Brianne referred to Kevin as her 'person' when asked if they were an official couple.
She also revealed that the pair have a lot in common and have an agreed understanding of parent-hood and it's importance, making their bond even stronger.
"We were just friends initially, but he’s been my biggest support while I’ve been without my daughter,” said Brianne, who is away from her three-year-old daughter Gracie for eight weeks while on the show.
"Kev’s a dad, too, so he gets it. He’s been my best bud" she continued.
And it seems as though the feeling is mutual as 42-year-old Kevin revealed that the attraction for Brianne was there the very first time he laid eyes on her.
He told OK! Magazine: "There was an attraction with Brianne the first time I met her. But it was way more than that. Everything just clicked."
The former football star also revealed that Brianne and himself quickly grew closer than any of the other Dancing On Ice couples, because they spent so much time travelling together to train in Dublin and Manchester where Kevin is heavily based.
Brianne has appeared as a professional skater on Dancing On Ice for over ten years and in this time, she has been linked to three previous skating stars: Coronation Street actor Danny Young, EastEnders stars Sam Attwater and Matt Lapinskas.
However, in her eyes, non of these relationships compare to the one she's got with Kevin.
"There is no comparison of Kevin to the guys I used to date. He’s perfect and my best friend."
"Kevin has all the boxes checked for what I’m looking for in my life. I think he’ll be great for Gracie to look up to."
Virgin Media sports analyst Kevin, who has two daughters Elsie (15) and Isla (14) with his ex wife Laura, said he is excited to meet Brianne's little girl and introduce his family to hers.
"It seems like I’ve known Bri for such a long time as it is, which makes me feel like I’ve known Gracie, too," he said.
"I have no doubt, my girls will be great with her."
