Cedric Soares has outlined the changes Mikel Arteta has made at Arsenal after completing his loan move to the Gunners on transfer deadline day.

Portuguese full-back Soares became the second signing of Arteta’s tenure on Friday, following Arsenal’s move for Pablo Mari earlier in the week.

Soares joins the Gunners from Southampton on a loan deal until the end of the season and says he has been keeping tabs on Arsenal and their progress under Arteta.

‘It’s good to watch,’ Arsenal’s new signing said. ‘I’ve been watching the last couple of weeks as well.

‘You can see that something changed, definitely. There is a lot of work to do but definitely already his ideas have started to appear in the game, that is good.

‘I am sure Arsenal will be very successful.

‘I see a team that wants to assume the game, a team that is comfortable to have the ball, and I see everyone looks like they are working hard when they lose possession as well.

‘There’s a high press and then it’s all about controlling the opponent and trying to score as well. I think Arsenal is in a good way.’

Soares, 28, made 138 appearances in a four-year spell at Southampton and is expected to sign for Arsenal on a permanent deal at the end of the season.

He added: ‘It’s a massive opportunity for me to come here. Like I said, I came to the Premier League four-and-a-half years ago and now to achieve this move to Arsenal is massive.

‘It’s all I wanted and it’s really important in my career as well.’
