Milkman stabbed on his rounds after 'refusing to give youths a lift'

A milkman has been stabbed in a leafy rural village after refusing to give a lift to some youths.

The dairy worker was attacked shortly before 5am in the Cheshire village of Tarporley.

He reportedly refused to give two males a lift, but when he said no, one of them stabbed him, before the pair fled on foot.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the milkman even wanted to continue with his round, Cheshire Live reports.

Cheshire Police has launched an appeal to find those involved.

In a statement a force spokeswoman said: "Just before 5am today (Friday 31 January) officers were called following reports of a man being stabbed on Eaton Road, Tarporley.

"It is believed that two males attempted to steal some milk before the incident.

"The man is believed to have minor injuries.

"Anyone with information is urged to call 101."

Briscoe's Dairy also reported that the pair attempted to steal goods from the back of the milk float
