In what was a close vote, the majority (51.9%) voted for Brexit and after two new Prime Ministers and a lot of political unrest, the date for the planned exit has arrived.

This will officially begin at 11pm on Friday when the UK ceases to be a member state.
And whilst you won't wake up on Saturday February 1 to a whole new country, it does mark the start of the 'transition period'
The 'transition period' is currently earmarked to end on December 31 2020, a date which was agreed by former Prime Minister Theresa May.
This can, however, be extended by up to two years if the UK and EU agree to this before July 1 2020. But this can only happen once.
