Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says James Garner will be staying at Manchester United beyond the January transfer deadline.

United still have until 11pm on Friday night to complete any deals for new arrivals as well as sanction departures to rivals clubs.

Solskjaer's side have been looking at a number of potential loan deals in the January window with young midfielder Garner one who was attracting interest amid United's desire to give him regular playing time.

The 18-year-old returned from injury for the Under-23s on January 10 but has not been involved with the first-team since their 3-0 League Cup win over Colchester United on December 18.

United have already loaned out Marcos Rojo, George Tanner, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Ethan Hamilton during the winter window.

However, Solskjaer has confirmed Garner will not be joining his teammates in leaving Old Trafford during the January window.

"James is going to stay," Solskjaer said. "We are going to give him a a chance here. He's had a difficult time lately, but he will be fine."

United are running out of time if they are to complete any more deals before the deadline passes on Friday night, but when quizzed on his own plans Solskjaer insisted it was unlikely any more players will be signed.

He added: "I don't think we will do anymore business, no. I don't think so."
