Man City tipped to sign three players on transfer deadline day

The latest players transfer odds on Man City as the January window edges closer to slamming shut.

by

Time is running out. At 11pm on Friday evening the January transfer window will close for business and clubs will be forced to settle for what they have until the window opens once again in the summer.

After edging past Liverpool to win the Premier League title last season, Manchester City were expected to mount a similar charge this time around. However, Liverpool have proven to be too strong, with City currently 19 points off the pace.

The chances of City clawing that gap back seems impossible, but some new additions on deadline day could go a long way towards decreasing the gap at the very least.

As we close in on deadline day, plenty of transfer rumours are flying around and SportNation.Bet has identified the three most likely signings City could make before the window slams shut.

Yan Couto - 13/8

Coritiba defender Yan Couto has emerged as one of the brightest young prospects in world football recently, with the 17-year-old full-back attracting interest from the likes of Barcelona and City.

It is claimed that the defender would be available for €5m, meaning he would be, in City’s financial case, a cheap signing for a player for the future.

But with Barcelona also keen, it could boil down to who Couto prefers joining.

Milan Skriniar - 8/1

Another defender City are linked with is Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar, who has established himself as one of the world’s best defenders in a short space of time.

The 24-year-old Slovakian has been outstanding for Antonio Conte’s Inter this season and has been linked with a move away from the San Siro.

However, luring him to the Etihad Stadium will not come cheaply, with reports elsewhere claiming that it would cost City north of £80m to get a deal over the line.

Pau Torres - 8/1

Another defender that City are being tipped to make a move for is Pau Torres of Villarreal.

The 23-year-old, who was on loan at Malaga last term, recently stormed his way into the Spain national team for the first time, making his debut as recently as November.

Like with the chase for Couto, it is thought that Barcelona are also keen on the defender, as are City’s Premier League rivals Arsenal.
