Irvine Meadow appoint caretaker managers
The experienced duo offered to take the reins at a club summit last night and will be in charge until at least the middle of February.
by Eric McGowan, https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/authors/eric-mcgowan/Irvine Meadow have appointed senior players Colin Spence and James Latta as caretaker managers following Brian McGinty's departure from the hot-seat earlier this week.
The experienced duo offered to take the reins at a club summit last night and will be in charge until at least the middle of February.
Chairman Robert Jeffrey and general manager Brian Lamb are due to go on holiday and won't return till then.
Jeffrey said: "Colin and James are both very experienced players who have played for some top teams in Junior football.
"They are bound to have good man-management skills and have the 100 per cent backing of the players.
"They offered themselves up for the role and we were delighted to accept that.
"We don't want to rush into an appointment and we're in a position where we don't need to do that. Colin and James have a chance to impress over the next few weeks and we'll take it from there."
Spence and Latta's first game in charge is a derby clash away to Kilwinning Rangers tomorrow.
Both are expected to play with Meadow suffering from a lengthy injury list.
