Virat Kohli’s masterly run-out: The Indian captain put on display a magnificent run-out to dismiss the opposition’s opening batsman.

During the fourth T20I of the ongoing India’s tour of New Zealand in Wellington, India captain Virat Kohli outdid New Zealand opening batsman Colin Munro with a masterful run-out.

It all happened on the fourth delivery of the 12th over when Munro played a delivery from India all-rounder Shivam Dube towards sweeper cover. In what would easily have been a couple of runs under normal circumstances, it wasn’t to be as Kohli’s gut got the better of Munro’s torpid running between the wickets.

Shardul Thakur, who was fielding at the boundary, picked the ball and threw it towards the non-striker’s end. With Kohli standing at cover, he collected the ball midway and took a shy at the stumps at the striker’s end.

Him hitting the stumps directly without even watching the stumps saw Munro easily short of his crease. Having watched the throw not coming towards his end from Thakur, the southpaw seemed relaxed about completing the run in a hurry.

Opening the batting with Martin Guptill (4) in a 166-run chase, Munro played exceedingly well for his 11th T20I half-century, 64 (47), with the help of six fours and three sixes.

After New Zealand captain Tim Southee won the toss and invited the visitors in to bat first, India posted 165/8 on the back of Manish Pandey scoring a fighting 50* (36) including three fours. With bowling figures of 4-0-26-3, New Zealand spinner Ish Sodhi was the pick of their bowlers.
