Confirmed: New Chapter After Chiefs Exit
by Mazola MolefeA former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder has found a new home following his departure from Naturena earlier this month, and it’s all the way in Belarus.
James Kotei, who remarkably left Amakhosi without ever making an official debut in the six months that he was at the club, was expected to return to the Tanzanian Premier League to re-join another former club of his, Simba SC, but the deal did not materialise.
With Chiefs confirming that the two parties had mutually agreed to go their separate ways after coach Ernst Middendorp told journalists that Kotei had not given him enough in his brief spell, the Ghanaian midfielder has now joined FC Slavia Mozyr in the Belarus top division.
It was announced late last night that the 26-year-old had agreed to a one-year contract and with a picture of Kotei already in Belarus, as he to put pen to paper on the new deal.
Chiefs moved quickly to replace him with Anthony Akumu, but he, too, is yet to make his official debut, though the club has confirmed he is struggling with a niggling injury and that his first appearance will be delayed.
