Talent Africa is back with new presenters and audition dates

Returning to your screens in September 2020, Talent Africa season 2 is here. The exciting show is coming back bigger and better with two new, vibrant presenters.

by

Talent Africa season one premiered on Mindset TV in 2018, after a partnership with Nightlight Productions, with a total of 7 aired episodes. Founded by Melanie Ashcroft, the show’s main aim is to give all the contestants a fair opportunity to experience the entertainment industry on both the national and international level.

Partnering with Mindset TV was imperative, as the channel Mindset Network, simply known as Mindset, is an African educational technology and media NGO non-profit organization and a digital satellite television free-to-air channel launched in 2003. Working across Africa, it was launched to educate especially communities in South Africa.

“We loved the Talent Africa concept, as the show reflects our core target market’s aspirations.  It’s great to watch youth compete in a variety of categories and feedback from our audience has been very positive.  We can’t wait to see the next season,” says Sheryl Yeadon, channels executive at Mindset Network

As a platform that strives to create a family of performers and encourage and grow talent, Hosts, Nicho Barnard and Nicola Ashcroft will be joined by two young and vibrant presenters; Palesa Mothopi and Chantal Mokwalakwala.

Palesa resides in Johannesburg and is passionate about drama. She has done acting work both locally and internationally, starring in Bonisanani’s short TV dramas which were screened on SABC 1. Internationally, Palesa attended the New York Film Academy (NYFA)’s Acting for Film Teens’ programme in Los Angeles, USA, where she was cast in more than ten student-directed films.

Palesa is very passionate about helping others. Through her “Hope for Teens” project, she collects and distributes sanitary towels, roll-on deodorants and other toiletry items to teenagers in disadvantaged areas. She also uses her acting talents to do drama workshops during her outreach events. “I believe that being a part of the Talent Africa series will encourage and help me to contribute to the arts in a positive way and also empower youth,” she said.

Chantal believes that the trials and tribulations you go through in life do not determine who you are, but the choices you make define you inside and out. She has achieved many accolades and is currently the UN Youth Delegate for performing arts in South Africa.
