Esperance open court tennis sessions to begin
Esperance Tennis Club will be one of 87 clubs across the state to welcome the new social tennis experience Open Court Sessions.
Open Court Sessions is designed to get more adults into the sport by encouraging people to come together over food, drink and music with a social hit of tennis on the side.
Hitting up more than 1000 clubs across the state, the program allows players to participate in a range of tennis activities without the need to join a club and commit to a weekly competition.
Tennis Australia's chief tennis officer Matt Dwyer said it was delighted to see the program expand to places such as Esperance.
"Open Court Sessions is the perfect mix of a casual social hit with friends and the opportunity to enjoy great food and drinks courtside, " he said.
"Our research shows that people are time poor and they want flexibility and fun with their fitness routines, and Open Court Sessions fits that criteria - just book online and rock up to your local tennis club.
"It's all about being social, both on and off the court, and we all know how important that is for both physical and mental health."
According to Tennis Australia a recent study identified 43 per cent of adults interested in tennis wanted flexibility rather than commitment to signing up for a full session.
All equipment is provided and players will be matched up so there's no need to find a doubles partner.
The first Open Court Session will commence Tuesday February 4 at 6pm and continue for eight weeks.
