Halesowen's Jordanne Whiley wins Australian open doubles

Jordanne Whiley and partner Yui Kamiji have won their tenth grand slam title together at the Australian Open.

They overcame top seeds Aniek Van Koot and Diede De Groot 6-2 6-4 to claim their third Australian Open title together and Whiley's first since returning from maternity leave just 11 months ago.

Kamiji, however, ended Whiley’s singles hopes in the quarter-finals earlier this week, beating her 6-2, 7-6.

The pair defeated second seeds Sabine Ellerbrock and Kgothatso Montjane 6-1, 6-4 in yesterday’s semi-final to reach the final.

Whiley missed her son's second birthday for the Grand Slam, but will be returning to the UK with silverware.
