Indigenous kids visit Joondalup for day of fun

by

ABOUT 25 children from the Aboriginal Middle Years Hip Hop (Beat Walkers) Program arrived in Joondalup yesterday to take part in various activities.

A joint initiative from VenuesWest and community partner Indigo Junction, the children visited HBF Arena to play football and basketball and have fun on a slide and giant inflatables.

Following some challenges for the program, Indigo Junction recently approached VenuesWest to see what help they could offer.

“Delivering opportunities for West Australians and giving back to the community is very important to our organisation and this initiative goes hand-in-hand with our objectives of delivering exceptional customer experiences and making every effort to use our resources effectively,” VenuesWest chief executive David Etherton said.

“We are very proud to be associated with an organisation that is focused on helping local community groups and indigenous Australians.”

VenuesWest established its community partners program in 2015 with its current partners also including Mentally Healthy WA, Shooting Stars and Fair game.

“As the owner of 13 of Western Australia’s best sporting and entertainment venues we are uniquely positioned to work with these groups to identify valuable opportunities and experiences that would otherwise be out of reach for some members of the community,” Mr Etherton said.
