Woman's Deliveroo order goes viral after she spots something unexpected in her basket
Tanyah Boman only wanted to order a milkshake, but she got a lot more than she bargained for
by Rachel Pugh, https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/authors/rachel-pugh/Sometimes, you find yourself wanting a little treat without having to venture outside the house.
And when there's nothing decent in the fridge, it's likely you'll resort to ordering a treat from a food delivery app.
While it's obvious you'll have to pay for the product itself and a delivery charge, what you probably don't expect is to be penalised for not ordering 'enough'.
That's exactly what happened to student Tanyah Boman, who was left stunned after she was hit with a hefty 'small order fee' of £11.55.
The 18-year-old, who is currently studying at University in Birmingham, ordered herself a large Oreo Milkshake from Munchies Takeaway & Desserts.
However, she couldn't believe her eyes after the subtotal for a £4.45 milkshake came to £18.50, once a small order fee of £11.55 and a delivery fee of £2.50 had been added.

Baffled by the basket total, Tanyah, who uses the handle @Tanyahhhhhh on Twitter, shared a screen grab - which quickly went viral, as social media users rushed to support her.
Speaking to Manchester Evening News, Tanyah joked: "Honestly, I just wanted a bl**dy Oreo milkshake."
She added: "Even my boyfriend was gonna get one delivered to mine but then he saw that he was like 'sorry but you can live without it'."
We've looked into the charge, and the reason for this fee is that this Restaurant Partner is a Market Plus restaurant. This means that they can set their own minimum order fee and delivery - so they were totally within their rights to add the small order fee.

A spokesperson for Deliveroo told Manchester Evening News: "Deliveroo is proud to offer Market+ which gives customers an even greater choice of restaurants right across the UK. Restaurant partners on Market+ set their own minimum order fee and delivery fee, depending on the travel distance and the quantity of the order.
"We always encourage our customers to pick a wide choice of amazing food and make sure their basket is full!"
