Beginning genealogy class in Lynnwood
The Sno-Isle Genealogical Society has a free genealogy class for beginners scheduled Saturday.
It is a recurring one-hour program on the first Saturday of the month. The drop-in sessions begin at 10 a.m. at the society’s research library at Heritage Park, 19827 Poplar Way, Lynnwood.

Marysville growth group convenes
A task force assembled by Marysville Mayor John Nehring is set to provide input on growth management for the city.
The group, which will meet monthly, will convene for the first time Monday. Appointed members will be asked to consider downtown redevelopment, future population and employment, high-density residential development, industrial center implementation, mixed-use development, neighborhood character, and value and transportation networks and utility capacity.
Task force findings will be used to help establish scope and policy for the required update of the Marysville Comprehensive Plan due in 2023, and to update other planning documents such as the Downtown Master Plan and amendments to development codes.
The inaugural meeting is set for 4 p.m. Monday at Marysville City Hall, 1049 State Ave., Marysville.
100th anniversary of women’s right to vote
The AAUW Edmonds SnoKing Branch is planning a celebration of the women and men of color who helped make voting rights for women possible.
The group’s monthly meeting is free to attend and includes a book sale, raffle and refreshments.
The program is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon, Feb. 8, at Edmonds Community College’s Snohomish Hall, Room 338, 20000 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood.

Mukilteo Historical Society essay contest scholarship
The Mukilteo Historical Society has a $1,500 scholarship available for graduating high school students.
Students must live in or be the children of grandchildren of someone in the Mukilteo School District. The scholarship will go toward tuition at a college, trade school or university of the student whose essay about Mukilteo history is selected.
The essay can be about anything or anyone from Mukilteo’s past. It must be in English, double spaced and between 1,000 and 2,000 words. A cover page with the title, author’s name, full mailing address, telephone number and email address is required. Each page of the essay must have the title and a page number. Submitted essays release first rights to the Mukilteo Historical Society and may be published on its website.
Entries are due March 31. They are required to be made as an Adobe PDF and attached in an email to Scholarship @MukilteoHistorical.org.
