Council repairing major water mains leak in Mayo town centre

STAFF of Mayo County Council have been involved in repairing a major water mains leak in Foxford town centre since 5 a.m. this morning.

The significant leak occurred at Chapel Road, outside the Admiral Brown Hall.

As part of the repair works, the town's main water supply was turned off, resulting in water outages for many local properties.

Local Councillor Neil Cruise reported on his Facebook page the mains water leak outside the Admiral Brown Hall had been fixed around 9.30 a.m. this morning.

"Water has been turned back on to areas affected but it will take up to two hours to get back to full mains pressure.

"I sincerely thank Pat Murphy, Pat Forde all in the water section of the council who worked so efficiently to sort out this leak," he added.
