Auto Expo 2020: MG Maxus D90 SUV to be priced between Rs 40-45 lakh

MG Motor that started its India inning with the Hector SUV, continued with the recently launched MG ZS EV and is now readying its third offering in the India market, the Maxus D90. An SUV that can take on the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Jeep Grand Cherokee, priced between Rs 40-45 lakh.

The company will be showcasing the MG Maxus D90 at the Auto Expo 2020. This flagship SUV from MG Motor is already on sale in some of the international markets. The company has released dimensions of the SUV that measures 5,005mm in length, 1,932mm in width and 1,875mm in height. Also, the wheelbase measures 2,950mm. The suspension set-up in the India-spec MG Maxus D90 includes dual helix independent in the front and five link integral in the rear.

In terms of safety, the Maxus D90 has been awarded 5-Star Australia NCAP crash tests wherein 70 per cent of the body is made of steel and nine per cent is made of thermoformed steel with a strength of 1,500Mpa. The SUV also gets a large curtain airbag to save the occupants in case of an accident.

Considering MG Motor's focus on offering an exhaustive list of features in their vehicles, the Maxus D90 too will be offered with the same. The touchscreen unit will incorporate the latest in connectivity with CarPlay and Android Auto while additional features such as panoramic sunroof, power tailgate and also gesture controls for the infotainment are expected.

The MG Maxus D90 will be offered in both petrol and diesel engines with an option between automatic and manual transmissions. While internationally, the D90 gets a 2-litre petrol that produces close to 230PS of power. The one that will be offered in India makes 218PS and 480Nm of torque mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

MG Motor India will be showcasing the Maxus D90 at the 2020 Auto Expo. However, the launch is expected to take place later this year. At that price, the Maxus D90 will rival the Toyota Fortuner and also the Ford Endeavour.
