Wells signed for the Robins on a three and a half year deal from Premier League side Burnley, with City captain Josh Brownhill heading in the opposite direction.
He spent the first half of the season on loan at QPR, where he scored 13 goals in 20 Championship starts, and will face his old club in his first game for City.
And he has told fans that he is ready to hit the ground running, looking to emulate his form in the first half of the season and put away the chances that are given to him.
In his first interview as a Bristol City player, Wells said: "I'm excited to finally have got it over the line. It's been a bit of a roller coaster few days and I'm delighted to be here now ready to start a new journey.
"Everything here is fantastic. The club, the facilities, the stadium, everything looks likes it is moving in the right direction and it's something I'm looking to embracing very soon.
"I'm in a good run of form at the moment I've been scoring goals of recent and I'm excited to try and carry on this form to try and help the club move in the direction that it wants to. That's the main thing."
Wells described the type of player he is and also spoke about going back to QPR in his first game in a City shirt.
He said: "I'm just a striker that's hungry to score goals and do well. Willing to work hard for the team, create and be amongst the attacking play, so that's me as a player whose always going to give 100 and try and do what's right by the team.
"I've always been known for scoring goals and trying to be in the right place at the right time if the chances are being created I definitely know I'll be able to score them. We have a lot of creative players here who create chance after chance and I'm just looking forward to being on the end of all of that.
"It's a bit of a an odd one, of course, to be playing against your former team a few days later, but that's football. I've joined for the right reasons, I'm looking forward to the future and the ambitions of the club moving forward and unfortunately QPR are the first stop.
"I'll be back to a familiar ground and familiar faces but it's still the same desires and I'm sure it'll be a lot of banter and talk about the weekend but more importantly it's about us going there, trying to get the right result and trying to win and that's going to be my sole aim."
