Fotis Dulos, the luxury-home builder charged with murdering his estranged wife, Jennifer Dulos, has passed away two days after attempting suicide at his Connecticut home.

Dulos, 52, had been hospitalised with carbon monoxide poisoning since Tuesday, after authorities found him unresponsive and “sitting in his vehicle” in the garage of his house.

He was initially transported to UConn Health, before he was flown to Jacobi Medical Center in New York City to receive oxygen therapy in a hyperbaric chamber.

“His family came in from Greece and decided today to donate his organs so that he will live on in some form in the assistance that he can provide to others in their own individual struggles,” his lawyer Norm Pattis said.

His lawyer also stated that he will continue the fight to clear Dulos’ name.

“We intend to proceed on as if he were alive to vindicate him because we think he’s wrongfully accused. We will be seeking the discovery that we were supposed to get just the other day. So it’s been a truly horrific day for the family, filled with difficult decisions, medical tests and meeting the requirements to determine his death,” Pattis added.

According to law enforcement, no suicide note was found at his home, however they did find a document in which Dulos reiterates his innocence, but it’s unclear when that was written.

The father of five was arrested earlier this month and charged with murder, felony murder and kidnapping.

The 50-year-old mother has not been seen since she dropped their children off at school in May 2019. Investigators found Jennifer’s car near a park not far from her home, but her body has not been found despite extensive searches.

The couple was in the midst of a bitter custody battle. Jennifer moved out of the family home in 2017 and filed for divorce, court records show. She had told officials she was afraid of her husband before her disappearance and his threats to take their children to Greece.
