ATV rider plummets 150 feet

UPDATE 6 p.m.

The Penticton Fire Department has successfully rescued the rider from the bottom of the embankment.

The rider was conscious and speaking as he was being loaded into an ambulance. Firefighters were still busy and unable to comment to provide details of the call.

Castanet News will update with details of the incident Tuesday morning.


ORIGINAL 5:30 p.m.

A long-line rescue is underway on Penticton’s West Bench, where an ATV rider has plummeted 150 feet down a clay bank.

Emergency crews are set up behind a home on the 4400 block of Sage Mesa Drive, looking down a large ravine that falls down towards Highway 97. 

There is no word on the condition of the rider and the rescue is still in progress. Castanet will update as more information becomes available.
