Human remains discovered in Lincoln Parish
by KNOELINCOLN PARISH, La. (KNOE) - The Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office says they've discovered human remains they believe belong to a man reported missing in May.
According to the sheriff's office, the remains were discovered near Cook Road, east of Ruston.
Authorities believe the remains are those of 47-year-old Jeff Norsworthy. They say a thorough search of the wooded area was conducted and evidence recovered at the scene led them to believe that the remains belong to Norsworthy.
The sheriff's office also says detectives met with a K-9 team that specializes in human remains detection.
LPSO previous reported that witnesses say they saw Norsworthy walking around a motel in Ruston around noon on May 9, 2019.
His vehicle, wallet and cellphone were left at his residence.
Further analysis will be done to confirm the identity of the remains. Circumstances surrounding his death are still under investigation.
