Update (9/12/2019): Minecraft: Bedrock Edition has been officially confirmed for PS4. This means you'll be able to play cross-platform with those using other hardware. It also grants access to the Minecraft Marketplace, where you can find new skins, worlds, and other bits and bobs. Anyone who already owns Minecraft on PS4 will be able to upgrade to the Bedrock Edition for free. The update will be rolling out this week.
Original Story: After a prolonged period of absence, it appears that the cross-platform Minecraft: Bedrock Edition will release on the PlayStation 4 from 10th December. This means that, in an unprecedented move, you'll be required to login to an Xbox account on Sony's system to experience the title to its fullest. Revived boxart for the behemoth includes both a Sony Interactive Entertainment logo and an Xbox Game Studios logo.
The refreshed retail release will ship with a LittleBigPlanet mash-up pack, as well as various other in-game goodies, such as the Greek Mythology mash-up pack. The strangest thing here is that, assuming it's like the Nintendo Switch version, there'll be Xbox achievements for this re-released PS4 edition, as well as the usual roster of Trophies. Expect an official announcement during State of Play next week.
