Power restored on Westside

UPDATE 4:54 p.m.

BCHydro says the power has been restored in West Kelowna. 

The outage occurred at 4:07 p.m. due to a motor vehicle accident and was back on at 4:42 p.m.

2,507 residents were affected by the outage that lasted 35 minutes in total. 

Traffic is still backed up from the signals being out. 


UPDATE 4:40 p.m.

Castanet's Nich Johansen states that the lights are completely out on Hudson Road and Highway 97 which is causing extreme traffic backups. 

There are backups are in both directions to the bridge southbound.


ORIGINAL 4:19 p.m.

Parts of West Kelowna are currently without power. 

There is a power outage in the Boucherie area, near Quailsgate winery, which was reported shortly after 4 p.m. 

The area affected is north of Mission Hill Road, west of Casa Loma Road, south of Rose Meadow Drive and east of Tallus Ridge Drive. The cause of the outage is under investigation. 

The electrical utility is not currently reporting when it expects power to come back on.

Crews have been dispatched to the area.
