Peter Andre has spoken out about ex-wife Katie Price after she was declared bankrupt.

The Mysterious Girl singer was married to the former glamour model for four years before divorcing in 2009.

They share two children; Junior, 14,  and Princess, 12, having met on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here.

Despite both having moved on romantically, Peter said he wishes Katie "nothing but the best" after her financial troubles.

The chart sensation also admitted he never wanted her to go through such a "hard time", reports Birmingham Mail.

On an Instagram Q&A with fans he admitted that Katie, 41, is having a "hard time" and refused to comment when fans asked if she's going to be buying the kids presents this year.

One fan asked him: "Do you still speak to your kids' mum?"

Peter replied: "Yes. She is the mother of my children so will always wish her nothing but the best."

He then added: "Look, I know I said ask me anything and I really wanna answer all your questions.

"But on this subject please just say that I am a very happy person and I would never wish anybody to ever have a hard time.

"I will always be respectful when it comes to this subject. She's the mother of my children."
