Bill Hader and Brad Pitt among Golden Globe Awards nominees

BEVERLY HILLS, California - Shawnee-born Brad Pitt and Tulsa native Bill Hader are among the nominees for the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominations this morning from The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The three-hour telecast hosted by Ricky Gervais will air live on NBC at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5.

Tim Allen, Dakota Fanning and Susan Kelechi Watson joined HFPA president Lorenzo Soria, the previously announced Golden Globe Ambassadors Dylan and Paris Brosnan, and Executive Producer and Executive VP of Television at dick clark productions, Barry Adelman, in announcing the nominees in 25 categories spanning motion picture and television, according to a news release.

Pitt is nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for playing the stuntman pal and sidekick of a fading actor (Leonardo DiCaprio) in Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood."

Although Noah Baumbach's "Marriage Story" received a leading six nominations, "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," Martin Scorsese's mob epic "The Irishman" and Todd Phillips' DC Comics origin story "Joker" also nabbed five nods in the film categories.

For the second straight year, Hader earned a Golden Globe nod for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for starring in HBO's hit black comedy series, "Barry," in which he plays a Midwestern hitman who gets caught up in the local theater scene after moving to Los Angeles. Hader and Alec Berg created the series, which is nominated for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for Henry Winkler.

The HFPA also spread the nominations out in the TV categories with "Chernobyl," "The Crown" and "Unbelievable" leading with four nods each, followed by "Barry," "Big Little Lies," "Fleabag," "Fosse/Verdon," "The Kominsky Method," "The Morning Show" and "Succession" with three nominations each.

In addition to the winners in these categories, the 2020 Golden Globes will honor Tom Hanks with the Cecil B. deMille Award and Ellen DeGeneres with the newly created Carol Burnett Award.
