Emergency services were called to the A907 Halbeath Road, near to the Fife College campus, at around 5.25pm following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle travelling westbound.

Police Scotland has confirmed that a man in his 40s was struck by a black Hyundai Tucson and was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for further treatment.

The 70-year-old male driver of the car and his 69-year-old female passenger were not injured, and enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

The road was closed for some time as accident investigators could be seen taking pictures and measurements at the scene.
