The CIES Football Observatory and InStat recently developed an exclusive index to assess the performances of football players on an objective basis.
FC Barcelona captain Messi, who recently claimed the 2019 Ballon d'Or, leads the ranking with 401 index points, followed by Ajax Amsterdam's Hakim Ziyech with 377 points.

Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe completes the podium with 366 points, while Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez appears in fourth spot with 362.
PSG duo Angel Di Maria and Neymar are fifth and sixth with 360 and 358 points, respectively, while Red Bull Leipzig's Timo Werner is the highest-ranked Bundesliga player with 357 points.
Lazio forward Ciro Immobile is the top performer in Serie A so far, having collected 355 points, while Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne, with 354 points, and Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson, with 353 points, complete the top 10.

Further down the ranking is Ronaldo in 29th position with 332 points, which sees him occupy fifth spot among the best performers in Serie A.
