Ghostbusters fans have been waiting patiently to get their first real look at the forthcoming revamp. After a teaser was shared in January, followed by a few casting confirmations, Sony Pictures has finally dropped the first full-trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
The upcoming sequel will take place in the same universe as the two OG films, not the universe of Paul Feig’s 2016 female-led reboot, and will see original cast members Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson reprising their roles alongside Annie Potts and Sigourney Weaver. Fargo‘s Carrie Coon will play a single mother named Callie, while McKenna Grace (Annabelle Comes Home) plays her daughter Phoebe and Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) plays her son Trevor. Additionally Ant-Man‘s Paul Rudd joins the cast as Mr. Grooberson, a science teacher that befriends the two kids.
The official synopsis for the new film reads:
“From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman, comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind. The film is written by Jason Reitman & Gil Kenan.”
