Man rushed to hospital after brutal early morning attack in Glasgow close as cops launch probe

A MAN has been rushed to hospital after a brutal attack in a Glasgow close early this morning.

The 35-year-old was assaulted in Hawthorn Street, Springburn, and left badly hurt.

Emergency services swooped on the scene around 5.30am.

The man was raced to Glasgow Royal Infirmary by ambulance.

Staff at the hospital describe his condition as stable.

Cops threw up a cordon on the street.

Worried locals took to social media after spotting a heavy police presence in the area.

And cops confirmed have since confirmed they were probing the assault in the close near to Memel Street.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police were called around 5.30am this morning to a report that a 35-year-old man had been found injured in a close in Hawthorn Street, near to Memel St, Springburn, Glasgow.

"It has now been established that he was assaulted.

"He was taken by ambulance to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

"Medical staff describe his condition as stable.

"Enquiries are continuing."
