Woman rushed to hospital with ‘serious injuries’ after Newton Mearns ‘disturbance’ as man arrested

A WOMAN was left with "serious injuries" as a man was arrested after a "disturbance" in Newton Mearns.

Cops confirmed they were called to a property on Castle Road in the town just after 10pm last night after the alarm was raised.

A 41-year-old woman was rushed to hospital for treatment, with injuries believed not to be life-threatening.

Police then nicked a 37-year-old man in connection with the alleged incident.

They said that the "disturbance" was contained to within the house, and there was no wider risk to the public.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a disturbance within a house on Castle Road in Newton Mearns.

"The alleged incident was reported shortly after 10.05pm on Sunday, December 8.

"A 41-year-old woman suffered serious injuries during the alleged incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.

"Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"The alleged incident was contained to within the property and there was no wider risk to the public.

"Inquiries are ongoing."
