Indian Army To Honour 30 Bangladeshi Freedom Fighters Ahead Of Vijay Diwas

On the occasion of 48th anniversary of Vijay Diwas, the Eastern Command Headquarters of Indian Army will hold a reception for 30 freedom fighters of Bangladesh on 15 December, reports New Age Bangladesh.

Major General ND Prasad, General Staff at Eastern Command Headquarters, told a press conference at Fort William on Saturday (7 December).

16 December is the day when the erstwhile East Pakistan became Bangladesh commemorating the victory over the Pakistani forces who killed over 30 lakh people making it one of the biggest genocide after the end of second world war.

16 December is also celebrated as ‘Vijay Diwas,’ or Victory Day, in India.

An exhibition of rare photographs will also be arranged along with military band concerts at Princep Ghat on the banks of River Hooghly on 13 and 14 December.
