END. Clothing and American sportswear giants New Balance have teamed up once again on a collaborative pair of sneakers, this time around delivering the 997 “Persian Rug.”
The 997 “Persian Rug” follows on from the duo’s recent technically-indebted 860 V2 and its sophisticated 878 “Grey Gull,” with END. taking a more traditional approach with a “Rumba Red” colorway contrasted by navy and cream panels. It’s constructed from suede, leather and mesh under New Balance’s premium Made in USA division, a detail so prominent that it has been embroidered atop of the sneaker’s tongue.
Throughout the sneaker, you’ll find no detail left unfinished. Inspired by the ornate nature of Persian rugs — which date back to the 5th Century BC — END. has complemented the original colors found on the sneaker with an insole printed with a traditional Middle Eastern pattern that also finds itself encompassing the box.
Rounding out this unique collaborative pair is New Balance’s legendary ENCAP technology in the sole unit, providing a supportive and comfort-enhancing wear, as well as insole branding.
