Saoirse Ronan and Andrew Scott Golden Globe nominees
Irish actors Saoirse Ronan and Andrew Scott are among the nominees for next month's Golden Globes in the US.
Ronan has been nominated for a Best Actress - Drama Golden Globe for her performance in writer-director Greta Gerwig's adaptation of Little Women.
It is the 25-year-old's fourth Golden Globe nomination. She previously won the Best Actress - Musical or Comedy Golden Globe in 2018 for her performance in Gerwig's Lady Bird.
Andrew Scott is nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe in the television categories for his performance in Phoebe Waller-Bridge's dark comedy series Fleabag.
Netflix's relationship drama Marriage Story leads the nominations in the film categories with six, including Best Picture - Drama, Best Actress (Scarlett Johansson), Best Actor (Adam Driver), Best Supporting Actress (Laura Dern) and Best Screenplay (writer-director Noah Baumbach).
The streaming service's crime epic The Irishman has been shortlisted in five film categories, including Best Picture - Drama, Best Director (Martin Scorsese) and Best Supporting Actor (Al Pacino and Joe Pesci), but star Robert De Niro was not among the Best Actor nominees.
Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has also received five nominations, with the writer-director and stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt among the nominees. Surprisingly, Little Women missed out on Best Director and Best Picture nominations when the Golden Globes shortlist was announced on Monday.
Netflix's The Crown ties with Chernobyl and Unbelievable for the most nominations in the television categories - four each.
The most glaring omission in the television categories was Emmy-winning true story When They See Us, which did not receive any nominations. Season three of The Handmaid's Tale and the final season of Veep were also overlooked. In its final season, Game of Thrones received just one nomination - a Best Actor nod for star Kit Harington.
There are no female directors shortlisted for Best Director, and no films by female directors are on the Best Picture shortlists. There are also no female nominees for Best Screenplay.
The awards take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 5 with Ricky Gervais returning as host.
